Miller Lite tips hat to Milwaukee in national TV spot to air during baseball playoffs

With Milwaukee sweeping its way through Colorado in the #BeerSeries (and helping its fans cash in on free beer Friday), Miller Lite is tipping its cap to its hometown during the next round of the baseball playoffs.

The Original Light Beer is airing a 15-second television spot honoring Milwaukee during playoff games on Friday and Monday. The ad is a shortened version of a spot running in the Milwaukee market that features landmarks in the city, including the Milwaukee Public Market, the yellow-arched Daniel Hoan Memorial Bridge and the downtown Milwaukee Riverwalk.

Also highlighted are Miller-branded venues, such as Miller Park, the Miller Lite Oasis event venue at Summerfest, and the Miller brewery, which opened in 1855 and ranks among the oldest operational breweries in the country.

“Holding true means never forgetting where you came from. That’s why we’ll always brew our beer in our hometown,” a voiceover intones. “Because Milwaukee isn’t just where Miller is made, it’s what made Miller.”

The advertisement aims to support Miller’s hometown of Milwaukee and its baseball fans when its team squares off against Los Angeles in the next round of the playoffs.

“We’re proud of our Milwaukee roots, and as the team takes the national stage, we can’t wait to cheer them on alongside the fans,” says Sheryl Rosa, director of activation for Miller Lite.

Milwaukee advanced after sweeping Colorado 3-0 in a best-of-five series. That series was notable because it pit the home of Coors Brewing Co. against the home of Miller Brewing Co. — and the nation’s No. 2-selling beer against the No. 3.

As a result of a friendly wager between Miller Brewing and Coors Brewing, this Friday Coors is buying a free Miller Lite for Milwaukee fans at participating bars across the Cream City.
