✓ Coors Light, Miller Lite and Miller High Life are sponsoring free public transportation on New Year’s Eve in seven U.S. cities
✓ Over the past 37 years, nearly 10 million people have used Molson Coors’ Free Rides program, helping them to celebrate responsibly and get home safely
✓ Coors Light is also providing free transit in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Saturday nights in December
After the ball drops and choruses of “Auld Lang Syne” ring in 2026, Molson Coors brands are once again helping people celebrate the new year responsibly by offering free rides home in seven U.S. cities.
Coors Light is sponsoring rides in Denver, Dallas and Phoenix, while Miller Lite is supporting in Milwaukee, Charlotte and Washington D.C. In Chicago, Miller High Life is the sponsoring brand this year.
Community Affairs Manager Alison Hanrahan says that alcohol responsibility is core to Molson Coors, and the Free Rides program has been a central part of its alcohol responsibility program for decades.
“Molson Coors’ brands have been proud sponsors of Free Rides for almost 40 years,” she says. “It’s just one of the many ways our brands have been part of the moments that bring people together, and we’re proud to continue that tradition by supporting responsible celebrations.”
Since its inception in 1988, the Free Rides program has provided nearly 10 million free rides on public transportation. Last New Year’s Eve, over 361,000 people in seven cities rode for free.
Hanrahan says that Molson Coors also provides free rides during other holidays like St. Patrick’s Day and for certain major sporting events. In 2024, the program offered 445,000 free rides — a 25% increase from 2023.
Coming back for a second year, Canadians in Halifax, Nova Scotia will also have free rides on Saturdays throughout December beginning December 6. Coors Light is sponsoring rides on all Halifax Transit buses and ferries from 6 p.m. until the end of service. Last year, the service provided over 60,000 free rides.
Hanrahan adds that the Free Rides program has had a significant impact in these cities.
“New Year’s Eve is all about celebrating together, and with Free Rides, we’re helping people do that responsibly. With almost 10 million safe rides given over the years, that’s almost 10 million celebrations we're honored to have been part of.”
